Main purpose of the Job Reporting to: Course Leader or Assistant Course Leader
To inject life into the Leisure Programme, providing a stimulating and culturally enriching experience for the students, and
to supervise the students outside the classroom, overseeing their welfare, safety and discipline at all times.
Responsibilities
- Welcomes students on the first Sunday assisting with calls to parents, orientation around the site, checking into rooms, banking, and providing initial “getting to know you” entertainment as directed by the Residential Leisure and Welfare Co-ordinator.
- Supervises the “going to bed” and “getting up” routines, afternoon breaks, evening meal times, and homework supervision on a rota basis.
- Monitors the health and safety, welfare and discipline of students, anticipating discrimination, bullying, and damage.
- Monitors the whereabouts of students through roll-calls at assembly, lunch-time and in the evenings, ensuring that curfews are kept and bed-times respected.
- Attends staff meetings on weekdays for briefing, liaising with the academic team and training.
- Leads the activity for a group of up to 16 students at pre-arranged times over six days each week.
- Encourages full and enthusiastic involvement by students in the scheduled Leisure Programme, leading by example.
- Completes attendance records of students as required by the Leisure Co-ordinator and reports on non-attendance or ill-discipline.
- Co-operates with the Leisure Co-ordinator, and also on occasions with agents and British Council Inspectors in the observation and evaluation of activities.

- Suitable Leisure qualification e.g. current Lifeguard Certificate, First Aid, Sports Management.
- Experience of working with teenagers in a residential environment
- Enthusiasm, energy and motivational skills
- CRB Disclosure. If this has not yet been obtained, OISE will assist with and pay for an application in the event of acceptance of a job offer.

- Attendance of pre-course training either in Oxford or locally
- Attendance of pre-course meeting at centre on day before student arrivals and assistance in setting up
- Attendance on six days per week on a rota basis
- One day off per week to be taken on a week day

£240 per week plus accommodation and full board
plus supplement
£25 per week for returners to Young Learners’ School plus statutory holiday pay calculated on a pro-rata basis
