Young Learners

Baccalaureat and Extended Programme Teacher

Main purpose of the Job                         Reporting to: Course Leader

To deliver lessons in accordance with the OISE house style which stimulate the student, and enhance their confidence in learning the language.

Responsibilities

  • Attends a teacher training session prior to the course.
  • Arrives one day before start date to attend pre-course meeting and help set up the centre
  • Teaches 20 lessons of 90 minutes each over five days per week = 30h/week teaching
  • Follows the framework syllabus with the specific focus on the skills needed for the Baccalaureat examination or our Extended programme.
  • Attends staff meetings:  daily for briefing and discussion of academic and welfare matters (09.00 - 09.15) and one in-house training session per week (30 minutes).
  • Assists with the welcome, induction and testing of students on the first morning, a+nd with the supervision at morning break and lunch time on a rota basis.
  • Uses recommended resource materials (or substitutes own resources in consultation with the Senior Teacher) and respects all copyright requirements.
  • Sets regular homework (approximately 1.5 hours in total per day) and ensures that feedback is provided to students.
  • Completes academic records as required by the Senior Teacher (in particular class records of attendance and exercises, student reports and progress check results).
  • Co-operates with the Senior Teacher and on occasions with third party agents, colleagues from language agencies, and British Council Inspectors in the observation and evaluation of lessons.
  • Encourages full and enthusiastic involvement by students in the scheduled Leisure Programme, taking part in activities on a rota basis.
  • Has an overriding responsibility for the students’ welfare and safety at all times during the course including times outside the normal duty rota.


Qualifications and experience

  • TEFLI or TEFLQ
  • Experience of working with teenagers
  • CRB Disclosure. If this has not yet been obtained, OISE will assist with and pay for an application on acceptance of a job offer
Requirements of the Job

  • Attendance at OISE training event
  • Attendance 5 days per week Monday to Friday 09.00 - 17.15 
Payment

  • £330.00 per week.
  • £25 per week for returners to Young Learners’ School.
  • £52 for supervision of Saturday excursions and £20 for a evening social event.
  • Statutory holiday pay calculated on a pro-rata basis.
